I do not know much about the Insane King Cobras except some early history.  The organization was started in the year 1979 on 101st Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood.  I do not know the exact first street corner nor do I know exactly who founded it.  I do know they were started by Spanish Cobra gang members from the north side right after the Spanish Cobra leader Richard “King Cobra” Medina was shot and killed outside his home in April of 1979.

A group of Spanish Cobras moved to South Deering and started their own group called the “King Cobras” that paid tribute to Richard Medina.  In the 1980s the King Cobras spread into the Trumbull Park Housing projects and they battled heavily with Vice Lords and the Spanish Vice Lords.  In the early 1990s the King Cobras opened territory in the Hedgewish neighborhood at 133rd and Ave L “Chopper City” and 133rd and Burley.  They also opened in nearby Hammond, Indiana.  I do not know when the South Deering sets fell apart or even if Hedgewish survived.  That is all I know.

Please send in 1979, 1980s and 1990s pics!
