I will not get into the entire Puerto Rican Stones history because I have a separate page with their history and the Puerto Rican Future Stones basically started off as their own gang back in 1983.  The Future Stones started in the year 1983 at the intersection of Leland and Kedzie in the Albany Park neighborhood.  The story is that some Latin Kings from Lawrence and Kedzie broke away thanks to the leadership of “Stoney.”  Stoney was upset because one of his good friends was killed by a rival gang and when he was anticipating revenge to be served, the Latin Kings voted to not retaliate; therefore, Stoney and his closest friends left the Latin Kings to start the “Puerto Rican Future Stones.”  I do not know why they came up with such a name because they copied the Puerto Rican Stones’ name and added “Future” on to it.  Many had thought for years that the Future Stones were actually young wanna be P.R. Stones that were waiting in line to get in.  I personally believe that Stoney had family or very close friends that were P.R. Stones and that is why he came up with the name without reprisal from the P.R. Stones.  Within a very short time the P.R. Stones P.R.F Stones were very close allies and many thought they were in the same gang which they pretty much were.  I am a little confused on how this actually worked.

Right away in 1983 the Future Stones arrived in the Edgewater neighborhood at the intersection of Olive and Clark.  The Stones arrived right at about the same time as the Spanish Gangster Disciples and immediately they started gunning at each other.  The Future Stones were not going to give up that turf and fought hard against the SGDs until the SGDs decided it was not worth it anymore and left the hood to the Stones.  The Future Stones had the same rivals as the P.R. Stones such as Simon City Royals, Spanish Cobras and Assyrian Eagles.

In 1992, the Latin Kings were making a lot of enemies on the north side within the People nation alliance.  The Kings were warring with Insane Unknowns for one, then they were now slugging it out with the Future Stones as well.  At this point in time the P.R. Stones were barely in existence and mostly retired so help from them was limited, regardless, the Future Stones were able to handle the Latin Kings just fine and enhanced their reputation.  As I said, the P.R. Stones were fading into retirement or facing imprisonment; therefore, they were less equipped to fight wars against Maniac Latin Disciples, Latin Eagles and Simon City Royals, so that set retired and the whole P.R. Stone organization retired it’s name and the Future Stones would follow suit as now a new generation was coming in.  The new chapter began when “Broleeo,” a Future Stone member left the organization to form his own group called the “Puerto Rican Familia Stones” that set up territory in the Albany Park neighborhood at Sunnyside and Kimball.  The Future Stones continued on into about the late 1990s but eventually they all flipped to Familia Stones or they retired, their sets mainly fell under the control of the Familia Stones.

Please send in some 1980s and 1990s pics!
