I will not get into the whole story of the Puerto Rican Stones and the Puerto Rican Future Stones because I have separate pages for those two histories.  The Familia Stones was the final installment of the whole P.R. Stone legacy into the Albany Park neighborhood.

In the year 1992, a Future Stone gang member named “Broleeo” left his organization to start up his own gang after leadership of the Future Stones got out of prison.  Former members of the Puerto Rican Stones flipped to Familia Stones as well.

“Puerto Rican Familia Stones” took over most Stone recruitment in 1992, original members were “Broleeo,” “Slice,” “Poppo,” “Dave The Brave,” “Fly,” “ET,” “Bird” and “TY” that were all co-founders of the Familia Stones in 1992.  There was no war with Future Stones over this split because Broleeo worked it out with the leader of the Future Stones “Stoney” to not recruit in each other’s turf and that pact was never broken until the Future Stones gradually retired from the streets.  The Future Stones were at war with Latin Kings that was a fresh war begun that year of 1992 but Familia Stones stayed out of that war, initially.

In 1993, the P.R. Familia Stones found that the Conservative Vice Lords, a People Nation gang, were infringing on their drug operations by claiming territory within P.R. Familia Stone turf, this resulted in a brief war and since CVLs were out of their normal area of operation, they were shut down by the Stones.  This was only the beginning of problems with Vice Lords.

In the year 1993, Broleeo began to brutally enforce policies within the Familia Stones which began to make members upset, this was in wake of P.R. Familia Stone popularity growing and was the beginning of issues the nation would have with Broleeo but for now Broleeo was making big moves for the Stones.

In 1994 the Stones were upset about Imperial Insane Vice Lords claiming territory along Ainslie Street so the Stones declared war on them which was the second Vice Lord group the Stones went to war with.

In 1994, the Lawrence and Kedzie Latin Kings were wanting to conquer Lawrence and Troy and they were also warring with other Latin King groups in 1994; therefore, the war with LKst Latin Kings was blessed by other Latin King sections.  This resulted in two years of serious violence.  The murdering started with the murder of a Latin King named “Renegade,” then the Latin Kings retaliated by gunning down a Stone named “Widget.”

In the year 1995, the Puerto Rican Stones, Future Stones and Familia Stones all dropped the “Puerto Rican” from their name because of heavy recruitment of non-Puerto Rican members.  Puerto Rican Stones mostly went extinct by then and Puerto Rican Future Stones became “Future Stones.”  Puerto Rican Familia Stones became “Familia Stones.”

In the year 1996, Familia Stones began moving into the suburb of Streamwood into the Woodland Heights East condos and townhouses at the intersection of McKool Ave and Miller Ave.  This territory would become legendary in the later 1990s and 2000s as Familia Stones here made lots of money and engaged in a heavy gang war with Latin Kings until police were all over the Stones.  The Stones then began low key operations in this area of the suburb but established a legendary legacy not forgotten.

In the year 1996, the Familia Stones faced a tough dilemma because Broleeo was still accused of brutally enforcing gang laws and now the Familia Stones got together with the Latin Stones and pulled a hit on Broleeo who was killed that year.

After Broleeo was killed, the next successor was “Slice.”   I get confused because some say he also brutally enforced gang laws and formed members to sell drugs when they didn’t want to and treated older members poorly; on the other hand, others have said he was upstanding guy and is dearly missed so I guess it depends on who you ask.  Because of the division of beliefs I am going to stay out of declaring one side of the argument or another correct unless someone can hit me up and clarify it all at Chicagoganghistory@protonmail.com.  Anyway, in the year 1998, members of the Familia Stones decided to kill Slice, and the murder was carried out. I do not know who took over after Slice and I am staying out of that one anyway because that is more 21st century stuff.

The Familia Stones are a smaller group that has grown exponentially in recent decades.  Most Chicago gangs have shrunk in size including older and/or larger gangs, but Familia Stones just get bigger.  Familia Stones have run out of People nation allies as they even have engaged in wars with Black P Stone groups in parts of the city.  Familia Stones are known for being very aggressive with enemies and seem to haunt them like a ghost by continuously coming at them with heavy guns and violence.  The Familia Stones are heavily allied with Latin Stones and the two groups make money together.
